The Friends University Fine Arts program is excited to announce dates for the 2020-2021 Scholarship Audition & Portfolio Review Days. The events will take place Nov. 20, Jan. 23, Feb. 15 and March 26.

These events, formerly known as Showcase Days, allow high school students to submit auditions and portfolios related to music, theatre, dance, visual arts and communications with the potential to earn scholarships from Friends University.

“We invite anyone interested in pursuing the arts to join us! Besides auditioning for scholarships, attendees get the opportunity to attend classes, observe rehearsals and talk with current students and faculty,” said Dr. Joan Griffing, Tim and Gail Buchanan endowed chair of the division of fine arts.

These events will take place in-person on the Friends University campus with COVID-19 mitigation safety protocols in place. Online attendance is available as an option as well.

The Wichita Art Museum has permanent exhibits and temporary exhibits. Occasionally a very special exhibit might not be included in the free admission, but usually this is a completely no-cost way to spend a Saturday in Wichita, and so worth taking the time to do!
The Museum also has numerous free or cheap kids’ activities/programs throughout the year, as well as activities for adults and sometimes special activities and events for teens.

Of course, you’ll want to check out the museum website before you go to make sure you know everything you need to in preparation for your visit, and that scheduled events are still happening. As of this writing, the Art Museum is open to the public.
