My Wedding Dress
January 5, 2021 by Haleigh

We are barely into the New Year and I’ve already messed up.

I was searching for something in my spare closet, also known as, “the black hole.” Near the back of the black hole, I came across my wedding dress! Me being the sentimental person I am, decided to pull it out and reminisce for a while…mistake #1.

I was staring at this gorgeous gown and my mind flooded with memories of that perfect day. It’s almost been a year since my husband and I got hitched, so I decided it was about time to get my dress cleaned and preserved.

Here’s where I messed up…I thought, “what would be the harm in putting the dress on one last time before preserving it?”

YIKES. Not only did I gain the “quarantine 15”, I also added a little extra after all the holiday meals. Needless to say, I am not the same size I was a year ago.

As I was standing in front of the mirror with my wedding dress unable to fully zip, I started to cry; I started to question my worth.

Maybe you feel the same way…you have your own “wedding dress” that’s causing insecurities.

I want to share with you what God shared with me. This author is unknown but they said,

“I wonder why we are able to marvel at the sunsets as they are streaked across the sky; captivated by a breathtaking beauty…in awe of a creator that encompassed the definitive moment of glorious. Yet, we look at ourselves in such disappointment. Held captive by the idea that we are not enough…that we will never be enough…that we are so far from being marvelous…

…as if God didn’t create both.”

So here’s your reminder of Psalm 139:14- You are fearfully and wonderfully made.

God made you in HIS image and everything created by him is GLORIOUS!
