When it comes to organization, sticky notes are my go-to. I have them all over my desk, computer, phone….everywhere. I had a co-worker CONSTANTLY telling me to get a planner, that way I can write out everything I need to do for the day. I finally gave in and bought a planner and BOY do I regret it.
Now, I don’t really hate the planner, I just hate seeing everything that I have to do all in one space. So much to do in so little time!
I recently saw this on social media and it has totally changed my perspective on how to be less stressed about my busy days. A mother posted this about her 3-year-old daughter, saying, “My 3-year-old just told me she wanted to be an astronaut. I told her that she has to study hard, go to college, learn a lot of science, and take a physical fitness test. She shrugged and said, “That’s only four things.”
THIS IS A 3-YEAR-OLD! Maybe you’ve looked at your to-do list: Go to the store; cook dinner; do the dishes; clean the house; bathe kids; etc…. YOU GET SO STRESSED OUT! You look at this list and wonder if there are things that you can put off until tomorrow but that list is just as long as today’s.
Remember, anxiety does NOT come from God. He says, “Be anxious about NOTHING.” (Phil. 4:16)
Next time, stop… breathe… and change your perspective to, “That’s only 5 things. I CAN get 5 things done today!”
Make your “To-Do” List an “I WILL” List. And it’s OK to start with just one or two tasks!
Do not despise these small beginnings, for the Lord rejoices to see the work begin… Zechariah 4:10
