David Land grew up in McAlester, OK. David graduated from Oklahoma Baptist University then went on to the University of Arkansas where he received a Masters in Instrumentation. David spent 25 years as the Ponca City Refinery Instrument Engineer. During that time he met Doyle Brewer at church and helped him install his first translator at Doyle’s home. Later, in 1992 he helped install the original KLVV 88.7 radio station with help from a couple of other engineer friends. He was the main Radio Engineer for the station from that time until 2004 on an un-paid volunteer basis while working for Conoco.

In 2004 Doyle hired a full-time Chief Engineer for the station to begin the expansion which now includes 7 Full Power stations and 10 more low power translators around Oklahoma and Kansas. In 2009 ConocoPhillips transferred David’s group to their Houston offices. David worked there until 2012 when the companies split into ConocoPhillips and Phillips 66. After 1 year of working for Phillips 66 in Houston he decided to retire and move back “home” to Ponca City, the Big City life of Houston was not for him! He spent a total of 34 ½ years working for Conoco, ConocoPhillips and Phillips 66.

After retiring in 2013 and moving back to Ponca City he went back to work part time for the Love Station in June. He also teaches an Instrumentation Course at nearby Northern Oklahoma College in Tonkawa. David enjoys working on computers, Ham Radio, and various shooting sports. He is a Deacon at First Baptist Church, Ponca City where he also works on the sound/video/media team. David was married to Sherre in 1976 and they have two grown daughters, Andrea and Erin and three grandchildren.
